HOME / SPACE / PLACE
I've been reflecting lately on the spaces & places that have impacted my designs and what 'home' feels like. During college, I walked past the Helen DeRoy Building hundreds of times at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Designed by Minoru Yamasaki (architect of the Twin Towers) this building imprinted itself on me. I've always been drawn to repetition in art & design. It can be a simple, yet powerful element and is at the core of the work I do. Home can be defined in so many ways beyond the home you live in. The idea of home can be found in the spaces & places that shape us and connect us to a location that draws memories or a sense of belonging.
